Akadema Professional Design SeriesEvery Akadema Professional Series glove is designed for selected positions. Each Akadema Professional glove is created with the exclusive intention of elevating a player's performance on the field. Akadema's Professional Series gloves are only made from top quality U.S. Steerhide. Akadema only utilizes leather from the back and the shoulder of the steer for a stronger, thicker glove. The laces of the Akadema Professional Series gloves utilize premium ¼ inch rawhide for their laces. The gloves are not pre-oiled, thus the Akadema Professional Series gloves are lighter and stronger for even the most particular professional player. |
Akadema Precision Kip Design SeriesThe leather within Akadema's Precision Kip Series gloves is 20% lighter and denser grained than steerhide. Akadema's Kip leather is harvested in Europe and tanned in Japan. Akadema's Precision Kip Series gloves are more flexible, break in easier, and are stronger than the glove lines of Akadema's competitors. |

Akadema ProSoft™ Design SeriesAkadema's game ready gloves. Akadema's ProSoft™ gloves are light and playable right from the store; Akadema's ProSoft™ Series are constructed to give a player the unmatched fit and feel right from the very first catch. |
Akadema Reptilian® Design SeriesAkadema's patented Reptilian® Design Series by Akadema Professional is a blend of knowledge meeting progress. This innovative web, pocket, and near finger-less design has many features that isolate it from the normal ball glove. The look and performance of Akadema's Reptilian® Design Series will make all other baseball gloves obsolete. The Reptilian's near-fingerless design, which makes it one of the few near fingerless leather gloves out there, establishes a natural air pocket which acts as a shock absorber for the initial ball impact. Thus, Akadema's patented Reptilian® Design Series makes the glove to hand transfer smoother and faster. Akadema's Reptilian® near finger-less design also acts as a shovel for easier ground ball scooping. Akadema's Reptilian® is intended to keep its exclusive shape longer than a regular glove. Akadema's Reptilian's leather looks and feels like snake scales, which give Akadema's Reptilian® Design Series better control and hold for less ball spin. |

Akadema Praying Mantis® Design SeriesThe Praying Mantis® catcher's mitt, by Akadema, is the most innovative catcher's mitt ever to hit the market. Akadema's Praying Mantis® catcher's mitt was developed with many unique features that set it apart from the competition. Akadema's new patent pending Stress Wedge technology, which is located between the index finger and thumb, gives the Akadema Praying Mantis® catcher's mitt the shock absorbing protection the competition can't match. Akadema's Stress Wedge technology protects the catcher's hand against injury and sting when receiving the ball. The Praying Mantis® catcher's mitt, by Akadema, also offers two additional Finger Hammocks, which permit the catcher's fingers to be firmly positioned and more secure in the glove. Akadema's Double-sided Slim Padding and Akadema's Double Flexhinge, which makes the glove snap closed when the ball enters the glove, allows for an increased pocket size and makes it easier for the catcher to hang onto the ball. In addition, Akadema's distinctively designed shape allows the throwing hand easier access into the pocket. Easier access results in a quicker glove to hand transfer and faster times to second base. |
Akadema Funnel™ Design SeriesAkadema's latest innovation, the Patent Pending Funnel™ is sweeping across professional baseball infields everywhere! In response to the large number of professional infielders who bend the thumb and pinky fingers of their gloves outward creating a glove that remains open rather than closed in it's natural state, Akadema has created the Funnel™. With Patent Pending FleXion slit and an inverted thumb and pinky finger, the Funnel's natural state is open, allowing for the maximum fielding surface available for that hard ground ball up the middle or that two hopper in the hole! |

Akadema Rookie & Prodigy Design SeriesDedicated youth baseball players are discovering Akadema's Prodigy Design Series (Ages 8-13). Akadema's Prodigy Design Series has quickly gained a reputation as the standard for quality and durability for dedicated youth ballplayers. Akadema's Prodigy Design Series gloves are constructed with a combination of Akadema's U.S. Steerhide and Akadema's elite AkademaLyte leather. This hand-crafted combination makes Akadema's Prodigy Series both extremely light and extraordinarily durable. Akadema's Prodigy Series gloves are known for a quick and easy break-in period. In addition, Akadema's Prodigy Series uses the Akadema Grasp Clasp Wrist System, making the glove more manageable and controllable for today's youth baseball player. Akadema's Rookie Series was developed for younger players (Ages 5-9) who are dedicated and want to play like their favorite professional players. Akadema's Rookie Series gloves are constructed with soft full grain leather and are designed to be comfortable and easily broken-in. |

Baseball Armory offers a wide selection of Akadema baseball gloves & mitts including their Reptilian®, Praying Mantis®, Professional, Precision Kip and ProSoft™ design series.
Infield Glove
Infield baseball gloves are usually specifically designed for 2nd basemen, shortstops, and 3rd baseman. Infield gloves tend to to be shorter and smaller. The shorter and smaller glove allows for a quicker transition from glove to throwing hand. The quicker the transition time, the quicker a double play gets started, the quicker the turn at 2nd base, and the quicker the throw to any base in order to get a fast base runner. Infield gloves are usually 11, 11 1/4, or 11 1/2 inches long.
Outfield Glove
Outfield gloves are usually longer than infield gloves. Outfield gloves are usually 11 3/4 inches, or longer. The increased length helps an outfielder catch a fly ball on the run or while diving. In addition, the extra length of the glove allows for the outfielder to pick up a ball while on the run. Fielding a ground ball on the run allows the outfielder to get into a good throwing position quickly and throw out the base runner trying to get the extra base.
First Base Mitt
First basemen's mitts are generally very long and wide to help first basemen dig balls out of the dirt or catch balls thrown too wide or high. These mitts usually lack individual fingers.
Pitcher's Glove
Pitcher's gloves usually have a closed webbing to allow them to get a grip on the ball without tipping their pitches. Other than the closed webbing, it is usually up to the pitcher to determine their needs in order to feel comfortable fielding a ball off of the mound. Keep in mind, that some leagues have rules against two tone, or multi-colored, gloves.
Catcher's Mitt
Catcher's mitts have extra padding and a hinged, claw-like, shape that helps them to catch 90+ mile per hour fastballs, in addition to providing a good target for pitchers to throw at. If required, to catch a knuckleball pitcher, a catcher will typically use an even larger catcher's mitt.
